Canal Dream Art Festival 2024

Info

The Regent’s Canal in King’s Cross came alive for the 2024 edition of the Canal Dream Art Festival, a unique floating arts festival that highlights the urgency of the climate emergency. With gowithYamo as the official festival guide, the week-long event featured a variety of exhibitions, film screenings, workshops, dance performances, and music, all staged across five narrowboats—collectively known as the “dream fleet”—and a canal-side venue on Caledonian Road.

The Canal Dream Art Festival featured noteworthy exhibitions, including the Floating Garden by Global Generation, which explored water's cultural significance and climate change through textiles, photography, and ceramics. Highlights included Cas Campbell's Hidden Rivers at RedKite, an installation made from recycled materials that focused on London’s forgotten waterways, and Phil Barton's Window on Lindow at Slash Arts, showcasing drawings inspired by the historically significant Lindow Moss. The festival also presented Waterborne: Boater Art at The Walker City, featuring artworks by artists living on boats. Additionally, poetry readings on the Bookbarge, Word on the Water, connected the public to waterways while emphasising the importance of protecting these vital resources.
